KikaiFest: Where Machines Meet Dreams
Vibha Desai
“Kikai,” a word that means both “machine” and “opportunity” in Japanese, beautifully captures the spirit of what we set out to create – a platform where skill meets ambition, and learning becomes transformation
Building on the success of Mechathon and Cryothon, Kikai Fest emerged as a pioneering addition to the iPTP calendar. It was designed specifically for the students in our Outreach Program, transforming ITI labs across Gujarat into high-energy spaces of innovation, learning, and self-discovery.
This wasn’t just about machines. It was about the magic of making, where theory was put to the test in real-world challenges, and students felt the spark of solving problems with their own hands
Phase 1 of Kikai Fest witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 600 students participating across three trades: Automation, Advanced Welding, and Precision Engineering. With live demonstrations, hands-on challenges, and the enthusiastic support of our industry partners, the fest became a true celebration of applied skills and creative thinking.
While 26 students were crowned winners, every participant left with something far greater—a deep sense of confidence, a passion for their craft, and a belief that they, too, can shape the future.
Kikai Fest wasn’t just a competition—it was a movement. A reminder that ITI students, when given the right challenges, support, and belief, don’t just participate—they lead. In doing so, they are not just mastering machines— they are programming possibilities, fusing aspirations, and shaping a new future for themselves and our country.
